JFIF to JPG

Converting in only three steps
The file extension .JFIF is not commonly encountered, yet it was frequently used: Due to a setting change by Microsoft (see technical explanation below), the settings were changed so that JPG images were saved as .JFIF. This meant that images from Google searches in Edge, images received in WhatsApp Web and attachments in webmail applications such as Outlook.com were saved as .jfif. The problem is that many programmes cannot handle this extension.
What is a JFIF file?
JFIF stands for JPEG File Interchange Format and, strictly speaking, is not a standalone image format, but merely a specification. This specification defines how JPEG image data is stored. From a purely technical point of view, a JFIF file can therefore contain the same image data as a JPEG file. The only difference is in the “header” of the file, which contains important meta information.
Why convert to JPG?
No information is lost when converting JFIF to JPG. Since both are based on the same compression (JPEG), no recompression is necessary. Our converter changes not only the file extension but also the header of the file for optimal support with other software. This means that virtually any operating system and any software is able to handle the converted JPG file.
